Other Programs
Cardiac Rehab: A multi-disciplinary approach to education and cardiovascular exercise designed to improve a person’s quality of life while reducing their cardiac risk factors. Patients are monitored closely by a cardiac nurse to assure activity tolerance and safety. There are three phases to cardiac rehab beginning with inpatient early conditioning and progressing to an outpatient, supervised exercise program in a group setting. Consult the facility of your choice for more detailed description of service and schedule of classes.
Pulmonary Rehab: Primarily designed for people suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), patients are seen by pulmonary therapists and physical therapists. This program is characterized by an educational component, including breathing and relaxation techniques to improve O2 saturation into the blood stream, and exercises to help increase endurance. The Maintenance phase is a self-pay program and patients continue to perform the breathing and cardiovascular exercises learned during the earlier phases of Pulmonary Rehab.
Arthritis Exercise Classes: is an educational series sponsored by the Arthritis Foundation and Rehab 3 at Frisbie. This course is designed to provide basic information about arthritis, strategies for decreasing pain, and ways to relax and deal with stress. It also teaches proper use of exercise, facts about arthritis medications and their effects, strategies for dealing with depression, good nutritional habits, and problem-solving techniques. The course runs for 6 weeks and is a self-pay course.
Craniosacral Therapy: is a gentle method of treatment that is designed to detect potential restrictions in the craniosacral system and correct negative effects of stress on the central nervous system. Craniosacral Therapy is offered on a per referral basis at each hospital-based site.
Cancer Exercise Program: is designed to assist people with the difficult transition from patient to survivor. The program teaches the patient and family the skills needed to maintain the highest level of function within the patient’s medical status limits. Rehab 3 offers this program individually at the Frisbie site and both individually and in a group setting at the Wentworth-Douglass site.
Pediatric Program: A multi-disciplinary approach providing comprehensive pediatric services to children throughout our community. Our first step of evaluation includes a parent interview, clinical observation, and standardized testing. Our approach is family centered and caregiver education is a crucial piece of therapy to ensure that the child develops new skills to help them grow.
Functional Capacity Evaluations: capture information regarding a person’s physical and functional capabilities and tolerance to static, dynamic, and work-related activities. Findings are used to determine how frequently a person can safely perform work-related activities during a full work day. This information is invaluable for practitioners who must decide at what level their patients can safely and successfully return to work.
Workplace Safety Programs: are designed to successfully return a person to previous duties and prevent future injuries. We provide a wide range of services including job site evaluations, educational classes such as body mechanics and postural education, and ergonomic assessments. Our services also include Functional Capacity Assessments that, in conjunction with physician’s recommendations, help clients safely return to working status.
