Is there a Rehab 3 in my town?
Rehab 3 has four locations in Strafford County: We are located in Durham, Rochester, Somersworth, and Dover, New Hampshire. For more information click on Locations & Directions.
Do I need to be referred by my doctor?
Yes. Although New Hampshire is a direct access state, Rehab 3 requires a referral from your physician* in order to treat you at one of our facilities.
Can my chiropractor or podiatrist refer me to therapy?
Yes, Rehab 3 takes referrals from chiropractors and podiatrists. We work closely with them to provide you the best possible care for your injury. We also send documentation, including our initial evaluation, progress notes, and discharge summaries, in order to enhance their understanding of your progress in therapy.
Does my insurance cover my therapy?
Yes, most insurance plans cover therapy; however, if you are unsure about your insurance our administrative staff will gladly assist you with any questions you may have. The members of the Rehab 3 Network are participating providers with most insurance companies. For more information about insurance coverage, please contact us directly.
Therapy is usually covered by your health insurance, but coverage varies depending on your individual plan. The patient is usually responsible for an out-of-pocket expense that generally includes co-payment and/ or coinsurance. These charges vary so it is best to contact your insurance company prior to receiving therapy. In addition, our administrative staff will gladly assist you with any questions you may have. For more information about the cost of therapy, please contact us directly.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Rehab 3 strives to keep our patients comfortable and most patients are able to wear street clothes to their appointments. However, due to the hands-on nature of therapy, it is best to wear loose fitting clothing, i.e. t-shirt and shorts or sweatpants. In some cases the therapist may ask you to put on a hospital gown in order to access the area they will be treating.
Does Rehab 3 make custom foot orthotics?
Rehab 3 has therapists who evaluate the patient’s foot and ankle for the need for orthotics. If it is determined that the patient will benefit from an orthotic the therapist will make a cast mold of the patient’s feet. Orthotics fall into two broad categories: biomechanical/ functional and accommodative. Biomechanical orthotics control certain motions of the foot and lower extremity by maintaining the foot in a neutral, less painful position during walking. Accommodative orthotics allow the foot and leg to compensate away from a painful position during activity. The therapist sends the castings to a lab for fabrication based on the therapist’s recommendations.
Does Rehab 3 have any programs to get me back to playing sports?
All rehabilitation aims to return the person to previous functional activities. Rehab 3 also offers both an ACL Reconstruction Group and a Return to Sports Program through the Center for Athletes located at Rehab 3 at Marsh Brook. Find out more about the Center for Athletes and the programs offered.

The first treatment generally takes longer because we are gathering information about you that will help us treat you effectively and efficiently. This first evaluation usually takes one hour. Generally follow-up treatments take between 30 and 60 minutes in length depending on individual need.
How long does it take my injury to heal?
Just like every person is different, so are injuries. It is best to ask this question directly to your therapist as they have gathered information to make those assessments.
