Aquatic Therapy Research

Rehab 3 at Marsh Brook is actively involved in aquatic research. We have been funded by a Grant from the Foundation for Physical Therapy to study the effectiveness of aquatic therapy. The study entitled “A Comparison of Aquatic and Land Based Therapy versus Land Therapy on the Outcome of Total Knee Arthroplasty” compares treatment outcomes for total knee replacements in two groups (Land Only versus Land and Water Treatment). Measurements are compared in the areas of ROM, pain, function and edema/ effusion (swelling). Statistical analysis will be performed to measure the effectiveness of aquatic therapy; results to be published upon the completion of the study.
